Lieutenant Governor’s New Year’s Levée

I started out the year on the right foot (feet?). We had a very quiet New Year’s Eve after spending a wonderful week in Edmonton with Mom, Subhadra and Sunita and her family. Bena and Zaman came to Edmonton for a night and we spent most of the evening (and prior and subsequent evenings) singing karaoke.  It was so much fun!!  I’ve gained a new appreciation for singers who have a wide vocal range.

Back to the New Year’s Levée: this was hosted by Lieutenant Governor Philip Lee and his wife Anita. The Levée has a long and illustrious history in Canada dating back to 1646  History of Lieutenant Governor’s New Year’s Levee . In Manitoba, the Levée is held at the Legislative Building but dignitaries (including Consular Corps members) are invited to a small reception at the Lieutenant Governor’s residence at Government House. Last year, I took Mom and this year, Sharm went with us.

Good way to start the new year. It was also quite a bit warmer than it was last year so it looks like this is going to be a good winter.
